Photo: Tarja Prüss Thomas Kast routinely braves the freezing Finnish winter night with his camera to wait for a shot of the Northern Lights. Here he views his time-lapse video at Tietomaa Science Centre in Oulu.
Thomas Kast is freezing. Blackness surrounds him. It’s three o’clock in the morning. He’s standing in a snowy forest glade in the middle of nowhere, waiting for the Northern Lights, also known as Aurora Borealis. You can see the resulting photos in our slideshow below, or in the permanent exhibition at Tietomaa Science Centre in the northern Finnish city of Oulu.
