Institutional Cooperation Instrument (ICI) is a mechanism that enables governmental offices and institutions’ participation in development cooperation. ICI provides these institutions new possibilities to share information and learn from each other.
The objective of ICI projects is to build the capacities of developing countries’ state institutions, including ministries, governmental offices, and universities. Through ICI, Finnish expertise can be utilized to improve the capacities of local players. The cooperation is always based on local needs and initiatives.
Finland has strong know-how on several fields important to Egypt and Sudan, including sustainable management of natural resources. Therefore it comes as no surprise that there is a lot of interest in the region to increase and develop partnerships between various local and Finnish institutions.
There is a separate ICI instrument for the cooperation between universities and technical colleges.
